Get Organized In a Perfect World

Appears in the Adulting Planner on:

What would your day look like if it ran perfectly? Pick a weekday, weekend, or a work day.

Think through the day:

What time would you wake up? How long would it take for you to get out of bed, what would you do first? Would you check your phone, or would you get up and go for a walk? What about stretching when you wake up?

What would you eat or drink to fuel yourself? How would your body feel with your choices? When would you ready yourself for the day and what would be the best way to go about it?

Now think through the productive part of the day - would you work or work out? Would you have concentration time to focus and pay attention, or does it take some time to settle into your daily routine? What helps you remain engaged for longer periods of time?

What kind of lunch is best for your mind and body? What choice would give you energy and keep your focus through the remainder of your day?

What would help in the afternoon? Structuring your work time? Adding breaks or short walks or errands? Think through how you can finish your day strong.

When evening rolls around, are you tired or still up for more? What does your household need from you as you prepare for dinner, bedtimes, chores, workouts, or whatever other responsibility you have? Do you notice needing an emotional break from the work, would listening to music or a podcast help give you more mental energy?

Focusing on what has gone wrong in the course of a day is going to bring you down -- but thinking about what went right, and then creating more of those moments brings us closer to better days.
